Meet the Team

Young Giants was founded in 2016 by qualified teacher Jaime Johnson, with the express intention of providing a higher quality and more flexible tuition and alternative education service to children and young people in London

Jaime Johnson
Director & Head of Alternative Provision - DSL
Qualifying with a PGCE for the post-compulsory sector of education (PCET) from University of Greenwich 2006, Jaime went on to teach in colleges of further education in Lewisham and Hackney where she became course leader for BTEC visual arts courses. In 2010 Jaime undertook a second PGCE in primary education via the Schools Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme with University of Nottingham. She then travelled to Malawi to undertake a post as a KS2 classroom teacher at an international primary school. Whilst in Malawi she spearheaded a phonics teacher-training programme at a local community school, raising funds from the UK to deliver training and resources. She established Young Giants in 2016 after her experience of tutoring children in alternative provision left her feeling that a better service could be provided.
Antonio Sanchez
Deputy Head of Alternative Provision - DDSL
Antonio graduated with a degree in Pedagogy and a second degree in Physical Education in 2012 and 2014 respectively. He went on to complete master’s degrees in Vocational Training and Remote Learning. During his career he has gained extensive experience teaching children and young people with SLD and SEMH in various settings including prisons, the community and classrooms. In Spain he worked as a trainer, supporting young offenders to reach their social integration and employability outcomes. He has also spent several years delivering social-education projects in countries throughout Europe and America as part of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development. Throughout his career Antonio has placed a strong focus on supporting families at risk of social disadvantage. He joined Young Giants in 2019 with a passion for helping children and young people re-engage with education.
Lisa Crawley
Tuition Coordinator
Graduating with a degree in Education, Lisa has worked as a teacher in primary schools since 2005. During her career she has progressed from Classroom Teacher to Assistant Head and Deputy Head, before undertaking a post as a Headteacher. During her headship an Ofsted inspector commented: ‘Since your appointment, you have made a clear assessment of the improvement priorities needed, such as the focus on ensuring that pupils, including the most able, are challenged sufficiently. You have been highly effective in supporting the staff through this process.’ Lisa also pioneered an ongoing ‘Aspirations Week’ project to support and encourage the children in her school to reach further for their futures. Lisa joined Young Giants in 2020 with a passion for ensuring all children and young people have the tools and support to achieve their full potential, whatever their personal circumstances and needs.
