Information for Parents & Carers

All the Parents & Carers need to know about our services

Young Giants is a provider of academic tuition services for children and young people across London. Our management team is made up of qualified teachers who coordinate and oversee a small fleet of teachers, tutors and teaching assistants. We are a quality assured provider of alternative provision, for local authorities, undergoing rigorous annual inspections.

We offer 1-to-1 tuition in homes and schools and locations within the community. We support children and young people with a range of needs and place a strong focus on developing confidence and personal ambition within each of our students.

We have high expectations of our tutors and staff. Placing the student at the centre of our practice, we work hard to ensure each child is receiving the most appropriate support to meet their needs and progress them towards their goals.

Parents and carers can expect all staff and tutors to be polite, punctual and conscientious at all times. To come well prepared, to listen and respond and to feedback. Our management team ensure to keep in close contact with families and tutors throughout a student’s time with us, and to monitor student progress carefully. Young Giants management are available during office hours term-time and are there to listen and support.

It is usually helpful for a student to have stationary for their tuition, for example an exercise book for both maths and English and equipment to write with. A ring binder may also be useful. For those studying for maths GCSE, a scientific calculator will be needed.

If tuition is happening within the home, there must be an adult present in the home at all times during tuition. If no one is present for any amount of time our tutors will have to stop tuition and leave the house.

We expect tutors to be welcomed respectfully and provided with an appropriate place from which to work, such as a kitchen or dining room table. Our tutors are not permitted to deliver tuition inside a child’s bedroom.

If tuition is happening in the community then it is usually necessary for the child to be provided with a packed lunch or a snack and drink. We will also need two emergency contact numbers for tuition within the community.

Please cancel tuition sessions directly with your tutor as we may not always be immediately available in the office to get messages to tutors at very short notice. Please be aware that our mobile numbers are for our work phones and as such are only monitored during normal office hours. Our tutors will inform us of all cancelled sessions.

If you are under 18 and need to cancel a session or you are running and your parent or career cannot contact your tutor for you, then you will need to cancel via the office using one of the following numbers. We do not permit tutors to give their numbers directly to students:

Lisa: 07593 586 432

Antonio: 07596 218 185

Jaime: 07936 942 339

We aim to provide 100% satisfaction with our service, however, we do appreciate that sometimes things can go wrong.

If you are unhappy with any element of our service, please call or email us directly and we will welcome the opportunity to work with you to overcome the issue. We hold our students central to our entire practice and continually strive to achieve the best outcomes possible. It is only in listening to others that we are able to work effectively for the child.
