Young Giants is an alternative provision offering remote tuition support to children and young people in London. Our tuition and mentoring takes place in a student’s home, school or venue within the community.
We are an approved and quality assured provider for local authority boroughs in London, undergoing annual QMET inspections.
Working with qualified teachers, experienced tutors, TA’s and learning mentors, we work to support children to re-engage with education, raise aspirations, obtain qualifications and transition to school or college. We have extensive experience in supporting children and young people with a range of SEND and SEMH, those who have been excluded from school or have missed significant amounts of education.
Our education packages are bespoke and flexible, working around the needs of the child and their family. We work in close conjunction with the team around the child, promoting open communication to support achievement.
With a clear focus on pathways, we take shared responsibility for preparing young people for their next steps, from booking exams for children who cannot be on a school roll, to supporting transitions into school, further education and training. We are experienced in supporting preparations for GCSE and Functional Skills and are in the process of becoming a registered centre with ASDAN, AQA Awards and Arts Ed Awards. (*We are not a GCSE or Functional Skills exam centre.)
At the heart of our practice, we aim to build the academic confidence and personal ambition of each and every one of our students, supporting them to feel a valued and capable part of society. Embedded into our entire practice is an element of academic mentoring, and in certain instances we provide a discreet learning mentor to support a child to reflect on their past experiences in education, identify barriers to learning and make positive choices for their future.
Young Giants was founded in 2016 by qualified teacher, Jaime Johnson after her experience of tutoring children in alternative provision left her feeling that students, parents and tutors deserved a better service.
Very rarely do you find a service so professional, efficient and personable. I have worked with Jaime over the past 12 months and Young Giants have provided an exceptional service for children and young people across the borough. The tutors and mentors have continued their outstanding work throughout covid-19 to ensure pupils are supported with their education, independence, social skills along with managing their anxieties and building self-esteem. Young Giants have supported many of our children missing education and NEET pupils with gaining qualifications, building confidence and transitioning into formal educational settings, alternative provisions and work. Young Giants work closely with the Local Authority to ensure outcomes are being achieved and attend professional meetings where possible. I could not recommend a better service

I am so pleased to have met you Jaime and think you are the absolute best at what you do. I will definitely recommend you wherever I go. Thank you for being such a brilliant company to work with.

My son has been tutored at home for some years and we have been involved with Young Giants only relatively recently during this academic year. The difference between other agencies and YG is that they help to fill the gap between parent and Local Authority and see their remit as much wider than just arranging good tuition. YG have organised examinations and have liaised with the LA officers without me having to ask, mainly because I don't know what to ask, I'm not a teacher and this is one of the hardest things about being out of the mainstream system, we just don't know what is needed and LA's staff are so stretched. Thank you YG for being the most proactive agency across the board, my son is definitely benefiting from your consistent attention to his needs.
